Century’s team of martial artists, fitness experts, boxers, and kick boxers know how important the right training bag is - especially when throwing a punch or delivering a kick without compromising form and power. Meet the Vario Wavemaster , a unique training bag and collection of reconfigurable elements that take diversity, intensity, and precision to a new level. The system’s flexibility allows complete control over how and what you train. Configure it to replicate the height and angle of a handheld training target or go further by creating an abstract opponent.
Vario is innovative for several reasons. It has two different performance foams instead of one under its skin. One foam provides the feel, cushion, and rebound you expect from the company that invented the free-standing bag, ensuring years of training and durability. The second softer foam is ideal for cardio and fitness training -reducing the potential for bruising on leg and shin strikes. Each of Vario’s three training elements has both. One side of the bag and the other foam on the opposite side. The arrangement naturally creates two zones that a single user can choose to move between to add variation to their training. Two different people could also choose to train simultaneously on the opposite sides of the bag. The foam’s location within the elements can be identified by the color and graphics of the element.
The ability to accommodate different levels of skill and size are another key benefit. The reconfigurable elements are dimensionally different - which allow users to stack them into an optimal configuration. Benefits include “right sizing” the height of the bag and locating the striking surfaces appropriately. As an example: creating a lower overall configuration for a smaller individual. The Vario Wavemaster comes complete with a non-slip, noise reducing base cover. Base cover can be spot washed (not machine washable).
The Octacone, Hourglass, & Octagon elements
Each element contains two foams:
Each provide 180° of strike surface (black color on one side and white on the opposite side)
PF90150 – Proven durable, foam used in Century Training Bags
PF36125 – Softer foam, excellent for cardio training – with increased absorption
Octacone:
3141 cubic inches or 51477 cubic centimeters volume
Eight-sided conical trapezoid w/ targets.
The unique shape is specifically built for uppercuts when placed in the central position between both the upper and lower elements. Orienting it with its larger surface on top creates an almost complimentary angle for users to practice arm strikes. During testing in this configuration, user’s commented how it replicated a human torso.
When configured in the uppermost position it ‘abstractly’ replicates an opponent’s head and can be inverted for axe kicks, shin strikes and other high impact cardio training.
Hourglass:
3502 cubic inches or 57383 cubic centimeters of volume
eight curved and faceted strike surfaces with targets.
With geometry derived directly from the study of martial arts instructors holding handheld targets for their students, the hourglass shape allows users to practice strike and kick drills without an instructor present. Whether striking high or low, the training bag provides continuous surfaces and defined edges to coordinate a well-placed blow. The inverted radius of the Hourglass allows users to strike the “waist” of the element on the soft foam side to contact the bag’s backbone structure and calcify shins. The upper and lower portions of the curve provide a larger quantity of energy absorption ideal for straight on and downward striking and kicking. The top and bottom edges of the Hourglass, when unobstructed by an adjacent element, make for a gratifying elbow or heel drop target.
Octagon:
4218 cubic inches or 69126 cubic centimeters of volume
eight symmetrical surfaces with targets
The octagon represents an evolution of the traditional cylindrical bag. No longer a continuous round surface, instead its faceted sides are dimensioned to match the size of a gloved hand or bare fist. The octagonal geometry presents users with the option of selecting which surface to strike. By engaging the mind visually before initiating a strike or kick, it helps builds eye, hand, and body coordination and increases spatial awareness – vital skills for improved performance when competing with an opponent.
