What to Wear for Kickboxing Class

Kickboxing is a high-intensity, high-sweat workout! In terms of cardio, boxing is one of the best activities that you can get involved with. It’s fun, high-paced and burns calories. What else could you ask for? As a beginner, you don’t have to bring a lot to the table. You just have to bring yourself, your open mind and readiness to start your training.

What about your gym bag? When it comes to exercise, you always need the proper gear. Kickboxing is no exception.

1. Sneakers

Every workout requires a solid pair of sneakers. Uncomfortable and ill-fitting shoes can lead to several problems. You may suffer from blisters, painful feet, back pain and more. You are also more likely to injure yourself without the right pair of shoes. This doesn’t have to be rocket science. Make sure that your shoes have a comfortable fit. You should break your shoes in prior to the first training session.

As far as style is concerned, you should consider lace-up sneakers that you can adjust. Kickboxing involves a lot of jumping and kicking. Your shoes should be flexible enough to provide you with free movement during your workout. A flexible mesh shoe with a cushioned insole may be the best options.

2. Leggings

Never take part in a high-intensity cardio workout without a flexible pair of pants. Remember, kickboxing involves a lot of movement in your legs. The last thing that you need on your first day of class is for your pants to tear or rip. Instead, invest in a flexible pair of leggings that will give you the mobility necessary. The leggings should not feel restrictive.

In addition to flexibility, moisture-wicking properties are important! The point of cardio exercise is to get your heartrate up and to work up a sweat. If you aren’t sweating, you aren’t working hard enough! The last thing you want is to overheat or feel damp in your clothes. Moisture-wicking leggings can help you stay dry throughout the workout. In addition, when choosing the fit of your leggings, make sure that there is a solid waistband. Double layered waistbands offer the best support.

3. Shirt/Sports Bra (as needed)

When it comes to your top, there are a lot of different options available. Remember that comfort should come first. You know what types of clothes fit you the best and which types of workout fashion you prefer. For any cardio workout, you want a top that is either airy or moisture-wicking. It’s important to stay dry, even as you work up a sweat. You need light material that can breathe so that you can prevent overheating. Likewise, you need to think about support.

If you choose to wear a sports bra, it is crucial that you find one that fits you properly. Make sure that it is supportive and designed for cardio activity. Look for one that is specifically for high-intensity workouts. Some tank tops may also provide extra support. When kickboxing, you want your tops to be sleek and lightweight. While support is important, you also want something that is going to keep you cool and dry throughout your workout. Overheating can be extremely dangerous and so you want to choose clothes that are going to actively defend against overheating.

4. Shorts

Say that you don’t want to go the leggings route for your workout. Kickboxing does not require you to wear leggings. Instead, you can find yourself a nice pair of workout shorts. When it comes to shorts, you should follow the same rules that you do for the leggings. Shorts will keep your legs cooler but you also want to make sure that they are designed with a flexible fabric. Make sure that the shorts are a comfortable, sleek fit. They should move with your body and not restrict your movement at all. In addition, be sure to find a thick waistband for extra comfort and support.

Kickboxing is a great cardio workout! It involves high-intensity movements that can help you improve your balance, strength and flexibility. When working out, it is important that you have the right fashion to go forward. After all, you don’t want your clothes to interrupt your workout. When you have comfortable clothing, you are more likely to succeed in your boxing class.
